No funny business today. I am sad. Yesterday, I let my family down again. Occasionally, going through a normal day just seems an impossible task for me. So I retreat into my own little world. I allow no one into that world and while I am there, I trick myself into believing that 'tomorrow', everything will be alright. But that is not the case, because the guilt that I feel takes away 'tomorrow', too. It is a vicious circle called Depression. Life is a series of ups and downs. I know that. But, just when I think I have figured it out - it kicks my fanny again.
Many years ago, my friend wrote this prayer for me. I have read it many, many times. By the way, she is still a wonderful friend.

Lord,
Give me peace today. Refresh my body and mind. Give me the strength needed to deal with what comes today and tomorrow. Guide my words and my actions so that they might be pleasing in Your sight. I know there are things around me that I cannot change, but You can. Lord, either give me the grace to accept these things or make changes come about as only You can, according to Your will.
Touch my heart. Work in my heart. Lord, I want a happy home, one in which my family will grow to love and trust You, as their Lord and Savior.
Take away my feelings of resentment and hurt and replace them with understanding and love. Take away my feelings of worry and replace them with peace and joy. I cannot carry it alone. I want to put my life in Your hands. Your word promises that if I ask, You will supply all of my needs. I need most today to know the assurance of Your love in spite of my downfalls. Your word says that You know when a sparrow falls and I know that what I am feeling today is important to You. Thank You for caring.
I ask that You bless those that I love. Lord, sometimes I fail to take the time to pray for those around me. Thank You for all my blessings.
I praise You, Lord, for all that You have done and continue to do for me. Thank You for Your Holy Spirit that comforts me daily. Make Your presence known to me. Thank You for prayer that I may talk to You anytime, anywhere.
Amen
