Happy Fall

A woman was asked by a coworker, "What is it like to be a Christian?" The coworker replied, "It is like being a pumpkin. God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. Then He cuts the top off and scoops out all the yucky stuff. He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, and greed. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see."

Try everything twice.
On one woman's tombstone she said she wanted this epitaph:
"Tried everything twice. Loved it both times!"

  Keep only cheerful friends.
The grouches pull you down.
(Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

  Keep learning:

Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever...

Never let the brain get idle.
'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'

  Enjoy the simple things.
  Laugh often, long and loud.

Laugh until you gasp for breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh,
spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

The tears happen:
Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves.
LIVE while you are alive.

Surround yourself with what you love:
whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever..
Your home is your refuge.

  Cherish your health:
If it is good, preserve it.

If it is unstable, improve it.

If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

 Don't take guilt trips..

Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county,
to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.

Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

I love you, my special friend!

Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second chance..

The last two weeks just haven't been good.  On September 5, I had carpal tunnel surgery.  Didn't get to see my girls for a few days.  Last Friday, I was keeping Briley.  Somehow, and I have played it over and over in my mind, I got my feet tangled up  and took a bad fall.  I really hit my head hard and mangled my glasses.   Briley brought me the phone and I called Ashlie and she and Brad came right away.  I heard my neck pop when I fell, and since I had a neck fusion several years go, it really scared us all.  So I got to ride to the Emergency Room in the back of an ambulance. (With four square wheels)!  After CAT scans and x-rays - I was cleared to come home.   I thank God that my injuries were not serious.  Mostly I was just really shook up.  I was carrying Briley when I hit the floor and I am so thankful she didn't have one scratch on her. I have been one sore chick the last few days. I rested the weekend and tried to get back to normal.  (?)

Maybe you could say, that somewhere is all this, I realized how very precious life can be.  One minute, everything is okay and the next is a totally different story.  I want to thank God that my kids and grandkids, extended family and friends are safe and sound and that God is taking care of all things.

And that I have Addison and Briley in my life.

Thank you Lord!  Thank you so much!

WORDS TO LIVE BY

This came up on my facebook.  Supposedly written by a 90 year old woman.  Oh, if I could have heard and LIVED by these words when I was young, my life would have been so different.   How many times did I say "Life isn't fair" or "Tried to have the last word in an argument" or "Would have liked to trade my problems for someone else's".  I always thought everyone else's life seemed better than mine and that other people didn't have the problems I had.  Now I know better!  Everyone has problems and a journey of their own, good or bad.  I am 56 years old now and I am going to try and heed this advice.  A very wise person penned these words:

Suth'n Humor

A man had a flat tire, pulled off on the side of the road, and proceeded to put a bouquet of flowers in front of the car and one behind it. Then he got back in the car to wait.

A passerby studied the scene as he drove by, and was so curious he turned around and went back. He asked the fellow what the problem was.

The man replied, "I got a flat tahr. "The passerby asked, "But what's with the flowers? "The man responded, "When you break down they tell you to put flares in the front and flares in the back.

I never did understand it neither."

Couple Sex

An 8-year-old girl went to her grandfather, who was working in the yard and asked him, "Grampa, what is couple sex?"

The grandfather was surprised that she would ask such a question, but decided that if she's old enough to know to ask the question,
then she's old enough to get a straight answer.

Attempting to leave nothing out, he proceeded to tell her all about human
reproduction and the joys and responsibilities of intercourse.

When he finished explaining, the little girl was looking at him with her mouth hanging open, eyes wide in amazement.

Seeing the look on her face, the grandfather asked her,
"Why did you ask this question, honey?"

The little girl replied,
"Grandma says that dinner will be ready in just a couple secs."

*************************************************************

My Aunt Evelyn was my dad's oldest sister and lived in Daytona Beach, Florida most of her life.  We always loved to visit with her.  She was a woman of faith, she was positive and always saw the good in everybody.  Evelyn was very active in her church, helping out with anything that needed to be done.  She will be missed terribly by her family and huge network of friends.  It is difficult to lose someone that we love, of course.  I think we grieve for both the person and the piece of our growing up that is now gone.

Evelyn, we are holding you close in our hearts.

Though our hearts hold deep sadness at the loss of the one we loved, it also holds blessings of the life we shared and the love we will always be a part of......

Hunting Creek Farms and Galliher Dairy

On June 14, Uncle John and Aunt Dot took us on the grand tour of Galliher Dairy Farms and Hunting Creek Farms.  Addison and Briley loved the cows at the dairy farm.  It was a nice cool morning and we got to see how the farm runs.  The cows were eating ground up corn and we got to see the milking system and a few horses, too.  We watched some of the workers feeding the baby calves with huge milk bottles. The calves don't waste any time gulping their milk down.

Later, we drove over to Hunting Creek Farms - it was a beautiful place and a beautiful, cool day.  They have several Clydesdales and just so happened they had a team hitched up to a buggy and Briley, Addison and I climbed on and took the most relaxing ride around the farm.

We got to go into the horse barn and watch while some of the horses were groomed and brushed.  Addison actually got to brush one of them.  She also went up into the loft and saw the kittens.  What a treat for a 6 year old girl.  Horses and kittens.

Thank you Dot and John for a special tour!

Briley's 2nd Birthday

Happy Birthday to our sweet little Briley.
We call her "Smiley Briley" and if you are around her for long, you can see why.
She turned 2 on June 15, 2012.
She loves to play and run and stomp ants on the sidewalk.
She is growing by leaps and bounds.
Briley is a healthy, inquisitive, smart little girl.
Briley knows lots of songs and can say her ABC's
We can't imagine life without Briley.
She is a blessing!
