Lord, put me where I need to be, when I need to be there....

One day this past week, I was pulling the girls up the driveway in their luxury model Radio Flyer wagon.  As I looked back on them, it blew me away to think that they totally depend on the grownups in their lives for all their needs.  Food, clothing, shelter from the storms.  They hear everything  we say and watch everything  we do.  What an awesome responsibility we have.  I still love to rock these little girls when I get a chance.  There is something about holding your grandchildren in your arms and knowing that for this second in the universe that they are safe and sound.

I read an article last week in the Statesville paper about all the outrage surrounding the Casey Anthony trial.  The statistics in the article were alarming and sad.  Here is some of the article.

"The FBI reported that in 2008, 1,494 people younger than 18 were murdered.  221 died before one year old, 338 were murdered between the ages of 1 and 4.
This is the year of Caylee Anthony's murder.  So there were 1,493 other children that were murdered in 2008. Are we as outraged over the other 1,493 lives lost?
Thousands of hours of media coverage and complete strangers traveled hundreds of miles just for a chance to sit in the courtroom to hear the trial of Casey Anthony.
In this country there are 15 million children living in poverty, 17 million who go hungry and 8.1 million who have no health insurance."

Lord,

Please inspire me to be a better parent and grandparent.  To be a better role model for these little girls.  Open my eyes to other children with needs.  Put me where I need to be, when I need to be there.  Help me to keep my eye on what is important in this world and to keep my priorities straight.  Lord, keep my precious children safe.

Amen
