Trying to deal with my hair on a humid day has caused much heartache in my life. From the time I was a teenager, I have tried gigantic pink rollers, huge orange juice can rollers, irons (the kind you iron your clothes with), electric rollers, electric brushes, dippity do, conditioners, oils (special Moroccon Oil) straightening gels, smoothing shampoos and once I slathered mayonnaise all over my head. (Do not try this one!)
When I was in high school (1974), the rage was long straight hair, parted in the middle. For a while I would roll the very top part of my hair on three orange juice cans, anchored by bobby pins. Then I would wrap the rest around my forehead and around the back, also held in by pins. After trying to sleep, I would have smooth hair for about an hour complete with all kinds of bobby pin imprints. Somehow, I thought one day I would wake up with hair like Cher. I have tried everything to tame my "naturally curly" hair.
You cannot imagine the humidity I dealt with when we lived in Florida. I would take the dog for a walk and my hair would double in size. It would be huge, the dog would bark at it, he didn't know me. My hair needed a zip code of its own! I should have been paying Florida taxes on it!

There are not many good hair days in the South. I guess I will just keep hoping for low humidity. If they can put a man on the moon, why can't they find a cure for the frizzies?
